The Community Club of New Boston held their first meeting since the 2010 Annual Fish Fry, which was held Aug 13-15, on Sep 12th. Attending the meeting were Lenise Phillips, President, Dave Phillips, Vice President, Tammie Phillips, Secretary, Shane Nelson, Nancy Nelson, Dee Smith, and Ralyn Speerly Schraceo.

Shane Nelson was unanimously voted in charge of picking up the Community Club mail. The Community Club received a very nice thank you card from the Methodist Church group for allowing them to have their home-baked goodies booth at the Annual Fish Fry.

Bills & the last of after Fish Fry sales/receipts were turned in. 1163 Fish/Chicken dinners were sold - estimated proceeds for this year’s Annual Fish Fry is approximately $300 - $700. As a non-profit organization, the Community Club of New Boston has an open checkbook policy; actual receipts can be requested for more details of the Fish Fry expense records.

2010 New Boston Fish Fry Raffle winners:
Danielle Imler – Lizard Planter & misc (Vendor Donated)
Cindy Marston – Wishing Well Yard Ornament/Planter (Vendor Donated)
Donny Long – Dr. Scholl Massage Cushion (Vendor Donated)
Steph Sedam – Cub’s Blanket + the Fire Pit
Mr. Riggs – 3 pc Patio Furniture (2 chairs + love seat)

Community Club sold out of New Boston T-shirts during the Fish Fry, but still have plenty of cookbooks and marshmallow guns. A vote was taken to allow Ralyn Schraceo to post the cookbooks online at www.MercerCommunities.com , using Under The Rainbow's PayPal account to assist with online sales and orders of the cookbooks.

Discussion of next year’s Fish Fry – due to lack of volunteers the last couple years, the vote was unanimous to ask the New Boston/Eliza Fire Dept to assist with next year’s annual Fish Fry by taking over the Fish Shack dinner part of the event. Dave Phillips was chosen to attend the next Fire Dept meeting to make a formal request to the Fire Dept.

The possibility of not having an outside carnival next year due to the costs and a few issues that arose with the current carnival was discussed. Various kid’s games and booth possibilities were discussed, along with a discussion on the street dance being moved for better lighting and seating - No definite decisions have been made at this time.

Tentative date for 2011 Fish Fry has been set for the last weekend of August.

Community Club Halloween Party plans to be discussed in more detail at next meeting. Tentative date for Community Halloween Party is Friday, Oct 29 at the Community Center.

New Boston Area Winter Coat Drive – The Community Club will be sponsoring a coat drive starting October 1st. Drop off locations are Deeter’s Tavern (Main St) & Nancy Nelson’s (715 Lincoln Ln). The coat drive includes blankets, coats, hats, mittens, scarves, sweaters, etc. Donations will be made available to the area for those in need of warm winter clothing at the Community Center – distribution date(s) to be determined by donation results.
