Time to boot out the party in control in Springfield. The numbers are horrible:

unpaid bills of $4.7 billion
153 working days to pay a bill once it arrives
31.2 million in late payment fees in 2009
$13 billion budget deficit

Now the "sky is falling"-- Illinois has such dismal bond ratings that the taxpayers now owe $551 million in interest fees on the money the General assembly borrowed to pay its bills.

One party, the Democrats, have a large majority in Springfield.
House:

22 Rep

Speaker Michael Madigan has approved budgets causing $80 in pension debt.

Time for some fresh ideas down in Springfield. Make your vote count on November 2nd.

I'd like to hear from the people of Mercer County - registration is free to be able to post in the forums.

What are your views on the new golf cart laws? Right now New Boston, where I live is under attack. State police have been pulling town folk over for using their golf carts in town.

New Boston is a quiet town of only 650 people. There isn't a lot traffic here - during the summer the traffic is probably mostly golf carts. The camp grounds is right in town and they've been using golf carts around here since I've lived here. I'm sure Keithsburg will also be greatly affected by this new law since their camp grounds is also right there in town.

I've found a couple articles in the Peoria Journal Star about my hometown area creating new ordinances and taxes to allow golf carts. I say this is getting absurd and all boils down to more stripping of our freedoms.

What's next - bicycles, skateboards, roller skates? I'd bet they cause way more accidents than golf carts... at the rate they are going, pretty soon the only mode of transportation that we'll be able to afford is walking...

That was my intent for Community Chit Chat - maybe I should rename it to general discussions? Sounded like a good idea to me, renamed, lol.

I've actually had a very difficult time trying to put this site together, as I've only lived here a couple of years. I'm all ears for suggestions and content.
