Community Events : Musical Talent Explodes for New Boston’s Fish Fry
Posted by Ralyn on 2009/6/1 16:00:00 (4461 reads)

Saturday, May 30th was a fun & musical day at Fish Fry Park in New Boston. The fundraising event was organized by Dave & Missy McDonald, whom is also in charge of the Fish Fry entertainment. I was in total awe of the musical talent that came out to help support the New Boston Fish Fry fundraiser.

Drums, guitars, & sound system were furnished so that all that wanted to could join in, plus many musicians also brought their own instruments. Even the youth that got on the make shift stage to play were amazingly talented. Zach Simpson started the “Star Bangled Banner” while Mason Vestal and little David McDonald followed along for a salute to our country that thoroughly impressed this Veteran.

Along with the above mentioned youth, musicians that joined in were Dave McDonald, Clint Nelson, Ben Barnard, Doug Ferguson, Rich Vestal, Lance Dale, Tom Dale, David Shearer, Marc Sholewater, Mike Whitehall, Derek Schmitt, Mark Shearer, Mark Fourdyce, & Bill Rudd on the harmonica. If any musician was missed, my sincere apologies - I tried to write everybody all down but may have missed a few.

Food & beverages were served by Missy McDonald and a few local children. Dale Beam cooked the pork chops. Terri Dale assisted by helping with 50/50 & Small Mart gift certificate raffles. Winner of the 50/50 raffle was Chris Defrieze, which he generously donated back for the cause. Mike Dale won the Small Mart gift certificate. $600+ was raised for the Fish Fry.

The Community Club of New Boston has been working hard this last year to help revive our main annual event, to include bringing J&M Amusements for carnival rides. Community Events : Community Club of New Boston Joins Hands with the Girl Scouts
Posted by Ralyn on 2009/5/22 13:57:44 (691 reads)

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009, the Community Club of New Boston joined hands with with local Girl Scouts in community service for Joining Hands Day.

We scouted the community to help clean up yards of individuals that were not able to do it themselves. We were able to help 2 local senior citizens with Spring yard clean up. We then moved on to clean up the property around the Dairy Barn. From there we ventured up main street, picking up all trash and litter we found along the way and weeded around the New Boston town sign.

Several Girl Scouts from Lenise & Tammy Phillips troops were able to earn their Earth Day badges and discovered that it was actually a lot of fun to help in the community.

We'd like to thank Bay C for generously providing pizza for our lunch. They were delicious and helped stoke our energy to continue our tasks through the afternoon.

We'd also like to thank the Conservation Club for donating the funds to provide "Joining Hands" T-shirts for all helpers.

The Girl Scouts closed the day at Fish Fry Park with games and discussions on how to help in the future.

Thank you to all those that helped!

Pictures coming soon...
