Sherrard, Illinois is a village in Mercer County, Illinois, and home of the Sherrard Junior / Senior High School Sherrard Tigers. Sherrard has a coal mining background. In its day, the village of Sherrard had a fairly large population, but once the coal played out, people moved away. Sherrard, Illinois was incorporated as a village in 1896.
